are you taking your Etsy business seriously

Are you taking your Etsy business seriously?

Let me tell you a story which I suspect you will relate to.

I have been going to the gym on and off for the last 2 years. Some weeks I was bang into it and other weeks I was a bit meh about it, telling myself there is always tomorrow.

This attitude has been going on while now and to be honest I am bored with my excuses.  My weight has crept up and up.  If you have been reading The Etsy Entrepreneur, TEE for short...because I also love Tea (sorry I digress), you will know a few weeks ago some online trolls took it upon themselves to leave some nasty comments about my weight. Post is here.

Although it was mean and unkind it did give me this realisation.  For years I have been going to the gym and seeing no difference, why?

Because I go with a half arsed attitude and put in half arsed energy which yields half arsed results.

Merely going to the gym is not effective enough to make any real difference in my health and physique.  It makes sense when you put it in simple terms and call yourself out on the BS.

So I made a plan and a commitment to myself.  I have to attend 1 exercise class a day PLUS hit 10,000 steps regardless of what is going on in my life.  My goal is to feel fitter and healthier in 6 months time (and hopefully a little lighter!)

For the past 4 weeks I have gone all in.  If I am going to take time out of my day to go to the gym or an exercise class then I am going to put 150% effort in.  I want to be a hot, sweaty mess by the end of it.  If not, I check in with my attitude and then I keep going.

How does this apply to you and your Etsy business?

How many of you are half arsing your business right now, be truly honest with yourself.

Many of you will pipe up and say, it is hard, I get stuck, I get frustrated, I do work hard but see no difference.

I bet the honest truth is you are busy being busy.  You are so deep inside doing your thing that you have no plan, no vision, no strategy for the long term goals of your business or you are expect instant results (like why ain't I skinny yet, I worked out for a whole 30 minutes and only ate a banana today!)

If you want to give up your 9-5 job and become an entrepreneur or create a sustainable business across multiple platforms, you need to have a plan, you need a vision, you need a strategy.

Here are my Top 5 Tips to help you move forward

1. Full Commitment: Like an effective gym workout, your Etsy business needs 150% of your effort. Half-hearted efforts yield half-hearted results. Invest your energy fully to see significant growth.

2. Create a Daily Plan: Set specific, attainable daily goals. Whether it's listing a certain number of products or reaching a set number of customers, having daily objectives keeps you focused and productive.

3. Get Past the Excuses: It's easy to say "there's always tomorrow," but that mindset leads to stagnation. Proactively push past obstacles, ignore negative comments, and stay determined to make your business thrive.

4. Have a Long-Term Vision: To create a sustainable business, you need a long-term vision. Where do you see your Etsy business in 5 years? 10 years? Envision your future and work towards it every day.

5. Develop a Strategic Plan: Mere hard work isn't enough; you need a plan and a strategy. Create a business plan that outlines your goals, strategies, and steps needed to make your Etsy business a full-time endeavour.

By having an end goal in mind you can take comfort in knowing that every step of the way will contribute to your end goal.  That consistency and discipline will be result in success not failure.

You can absolutely achieve whatever you put your mind to.

Realising that you are the obstacle stopping you from achieving success and taking action will massively speed up your progress.
